Project 1500 Chevy choptop
This truck came to us in pieces, parts and several boxes. It was a cab, rolling chassis, doors and front end sheet metal. No bed, no engine etc. The top was previously chopped and the doors were already suicided. The top was done wrong and so were the doors. We redid the hinges and cut the top into a 4 way split to redo it. The rear frame was also redone since the original was butchered and beyond repair. We actually found it easier to tube and backhalf it than repair it. Most of the frame was done by Michael White. Brian Simpson and Michael White did the sheet metal on the top and redid the hinges.
The truck left BYC after the sheet metal work was done.

Mike and Brian teamed up on the top and replaced the galvanized sheet metal installed by some shop. Yea it was galvanized, and plastic filler doesn't stick to galvanized metal very well.
The rear frame section was 2"x4"x1/4" tube. The idea was to have a traditional 4 link with the bars running forward and a BYC watts link or a triangulated 4 link.

The front frame section was cut out above the coil spring pockets and cups were sunk into the frame and welded in for a unique look. The truck also had BYC tubular upper and lower control arms made for it. It was to run slam specialties bags with 1/2" lines.

This truck is one I would love to have finished myself. The owner was receptive to my ideas to make it a show winner and all around very nice truck that could be practical enough to drive every day.

I look forward to doing a truck this bodystyle in the future. Not for me but for someone else. I still have lots of unique ideas for this bodystyle GM truck.
